Sophia is a Guelph based artist currently enrolled in Studio Art at the University of Guelph. Her main focus is on painting, and installation work, with an affinity towards large-scale interactive works. She uses an abstract style to convey the movement of light through multiple mediums, creating spaces that allow the viewer to immerse themselves in the works of art. She does this by translating the movement of her paintings into projected images and displaying them as large scale light paintings, usually projected onto unconventional materials. She is interested in pushing the boundaries of what constitutes a painting and is continuously exploring this idea through experimentation with different light sources, painting supports, and painting materials.
